Why I Haven't Been Blogging: the Truth.

Hello from college.
Its me here. Long time no blog. Yikes.

So what can I say really...
I went through a period of time where I didn't know what to say or what to use this space for. Then I realized it can be anything I want it to be.

I took a step back from my school work and created a platform of sharing that might be more consistent for me.

I miss posting on my blog. I love fashion and while I'm developing my own style, I'd like to be a sort of foundation for inspirational outfits others create. That is the reason I found the blog world in the first place.
I want a community of encouragers who can go through life together.
I see my creative outlet no longer being neglected.

But my current state of posting randomness made me feel uncomfortable with my content, and a bit disorganized with my entire blog.

A little structure is good.

I am still in the dreaming and detailing process pertaining to the future structure of this blog. I am hopeful for the future.

Fall Break

Fall break has come and gone and so has my sanity.

It was really awesome to go home for the weekend and have some much needed family time. Obviously I was a little excited. I had to work Thursday and Friday so I was on campus alone during that time. I was kind of going crazy.

This is an updated picture of my room. I seem to change it every week.

While I was home, I had the opportunity to meet up with some of my best friends from high school. Joel and Amanda were also on fall break and we decided to get together for some coffee/apple cider from our town's coffee shop. We decided it was nice enough to go and talk outside so we ended up in the square for a solid hour catching up. It was really cool hearing from them about their experiences and takes on their schools, simply to find that were all in the same boat and in similar situations.

The drive home was rainy and lovely. Wasn't ready to go back, but I know that Thanksgiving is right around the corner!

Prom // Graduation

So it has been awhile since I've been able to consistently blog (probably since last fall). Well some major things have happened in my life and I've done a crappy job at keeping everyone updated.

I've been in Uganda for two months, making it challenging to blog and keep up with social media etc.

Before I want to get into anything Africa, I'd like to touch on 2 major high school events.
Prom and Graduation!!!!

P R O M
Prom was super fun and such a great way to conclude an eventful and exciting high school career. It was sad but the best fun dancing all night with my best friends. My dress was from a place called Lilla's Bridal. The service was really great and I did not feel pressured at all to buy right away. This was the dress of my dreams and I still can not believe I got to wear it! Thomas was yet again my handsome date and I am finding that every dance becomes more and more fun with him because he has become more comfortable around my friends.

G R A D U A T I O N

Graduation was so super emotional for me. I have a friend named Amanda, and every time we see each other at sentimental times, we just cry. Well she was the one person I saw right after graduation and we lost it. So many tears. After the beautiful ceremony, my parents were no where to be found. By the time my friends and I wanted to leave for food, I found my mom!

Graduation came up quickly and I really did not have time to get a graduation dress. I was also told many times that a graduation dress was more of a hushed requirement because it was so stressed that this was a formal event. Well fyi to everyone graduating, it's not a big deal.
It is your graduation so wear what you want.

What I wanted to was leather leggings and my biggie t-shirt (come on this is just so me). But instead I ended up wearing a black dress with a necklace. I still love the dress but look how much happier I am in something comfortable
Do not pay attention to what everyone else is doing and do not be afraid to break some fashion rules being yourself.

My graduation ice-cream cake. yum.

10 Ways To Fight Senioritis

Proverbs 12:27
The lazy do not roast any game, but the diligent feed on the riches of the hunt.

This is a post directed towards myself. Maybe it can help.

It all began at the start of senior year. I had visited my two top colleges and checked out of my first semester. Not to mention I was engulfed in sports drama, working at Wendy's, and an awful academic mix of College English and College Bio.
So writing papers and sitting in a class where everything is going over your head... not my idea of a good time. I ended up getting crappy grades and quit my job so I could focus more on school. Which was really awesome because it gave me so much peace and a lot more time to enjoy myself and my friends/family before I head off for college. By that time, I was done visiting colleges and remembered that high school work is still present and kicked senioritis in the butt. Or so I thought....

As the school year is coming to an end (how did that happen?!?) and the senioritis is creeping in behind me, I find myself thinking more about meatballs than the derivative of sin(x). It's cos(x) by the way. I don't want senioritis to take over so I've been fighting it, and winning for the most part. Here's how:

1. Stop Being Lazy.

Get off your butt, get up, do the dishes, do anything and stop being lazy. Get your work done on time. Don't procrastinate. Stop napping on your desk and participate in class. Quit the after-school-nap session that happens everyday and join a gym. Working out and keeping your body healthy will not only boost motivation, but can start putting you towards healthy habits to fight the freshmen 15.... There's only a month left! Don't give up

2. Don't Obsess About the Future

Stop obsessing over your Pinterest boards for you "college dorm" or even "wedding" (ya crazies) and focus on what is going on right now. Pinterest can be a really useful tool for college and everything really! For me though, when I started pinning on a "college dorm wants" board I got obsessed and so excited I would put off my school work and begin the senioritis-coma. Also, we are not guaranteed tomorrow.

3. Be the Class Pet (and be proud)

Take advantage of the teachers in front of you. They have to have some intelligence to become a teacher and I think you'll be surprised at some things you can learn from them.
Do work outside of class like; watch youtube videos on your subject (Khan Academy is an awesome resource), practice problems, an article, or maybe homework...
Don't sleep through classes. Get your work done.

4. Give Yourself Motivators

For me it's the delicious glazed doughnuts from the coffee shop on the square. Those could get me to do anything. Give yourself a treat if you get a B on that super awful College Bio test. Once I bought myself Doc Martens for completing a 28 page research paper. Trust me it helps....

5. Stay Organized

Seriously this is probably the most helpful thing a person could do during senior year!! A ton of scholarships are coming your way and it's really helpful to write down when they are due. Same with your school assignments! During my first semester I found it helpful to take notes in class on my laptop which helped keep me really focused and organized because I knew everyone could see my screen. Although many people don't have the advantage of a laptop in high school, different tools can help with organization (flashcards, notebooks, calendars, agendas, highlighters). Awhile back I painted my wall with chalkboard paint (can find at lowes or hardware stores) and it comes in handy all of the time. It also looks nice when washed to accent just as a black wall. I made a calendar on my chalkboard wall so that I could put sticky note on when things popped up and take it off if something was canceled. (VERY HANDY)

6. Stay Involved

This is self explanatory. Just because it's senior year and school is almost over, does not mean you can skip out on the groups/clubs you're involved in.

7. Community Service

Give back to the community. Chances are, the community has done something for you and it's your turn to give back. If you are leaving for school, leave your area better than you found it. Not only will this count for volunteer hours for school, but it will also get your mind off the stresses of the future and continue the quest of focusing on the present. Community service is really something I wish I had been more involved in throughout high school.

8. Be in the Present

Talk to friends and classmates about the classes you're taking now. You will only see these people for a few more months and if they are anything like my classmates, they are all unique and interesting people in their own way. Even though the future looks so awesome, don't forget that life is happening in front of you now.

9. Take Advantage of Time

Time is a precious thing, especially if you're involved in way too much and work. Practice time management, sometimes it helps to make a schedule if there seems to be too much on your plate. Also do something useful with your time (scholarships). Spend time with friends and family. Limit time on social media.

10. Keep Your Eyes on the Prize

No, not the senior prank, graduation!

My last day of freshmen year. Bittersweet.

Boxy Pillow DIY

So I've seen these awesome sitting pillows on Pinterest, as well as words drawn on pillows.

Well any way, I took an old business linen pair (jacket and skirt) and wrote some identity reminders all over them with sharpie (Next time I'll screen print it).

Usually my favorite fabric is hanging on my wall, but it was taken down for this project. I was terrified this wouldn't work out.
Then my last needle broke on my machine...
 Finial project on my bed.
The project description is not very detailed, if more information is wanted comment!

Leather Jacket

But whoever disowns me before others, I will disown before my Father in heaven. Matthew 10:33 NIV

Mid Hair Flip

Leather Jacker: Forever 21
Shoes: Urban Outfitters
Black Jeans: American Eagle
Floral Top: Pac Sun
Necklace: Charlotte Russe

This is my lovely friend Bonaire. She is one of my favorite people to laugh with, which we do... very often. Yesterday we walked in our first block class with practically the same leather jacket on. So of course she's on the blog! Today she walked in with a denim top.. which I had on as well. We may not have all of the same opinions on everything but she's still my soul sister.

H&M Haul

Nehemiah 8:10

10 Nehemiah said, “Go and enjoy choice food and sweet drinks, and send some to those who have nothing prepared. This day is holy to our Lord. Do not grieve, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”

Past week:
-feeling at peace
-new glasses
-realizing I'm poor
-staying up too late
-praying a lot
-feeling joyful
-getting pimples
-had actual conversations with acquaintances
-derivatives are pointless
-appreciating my friends
-lunch date with Hannah Weisensale

Pretty sure the only crappy part of this week was that I got cut off this morning while driving to school.. And if that's my biggest issue then LIFE IS GOOD. I am blessed.
HAUL:
So while in Jersey, Tom and I went shopping (yay). I splurged in H&M, got a few things from forever21, and took home this awesome T-shirt for Tom's mission trip.
His class leaves Friday at 3 am so prayers for safe travels would be much appreciated, I'm sure.

These are some nice steals I got from the mall.

Jewelry:

Finally snatched a leather jacket for 12 DOLLARS at forever21. Um yes.

What we concluded: Every store had sales right now in order to bring in the next seasons stuff, so if you want to go shopping now is a good time. Of course there will always be sales, and probably more important things to put your money towards but I'm content with my decisions. :)

Hey look at me posting on Monday's and Friday's :) I'm starting to get the hang of this blogging thing.
